Carolyn Whatley, daughter of Cane Bay Partners CEO Jimmy Whatley and his wife Sally, recently completed her Global Scholars capstone thesis entitled “How Tourism Affects the Sustainability of St Croix.”

Carolyn is a senior at Chatham Hall, an all girls boarding school located in Chatham, VA.  The school’s Global Scholars Program encourages its members to explore ways to make impactful contributions to the world as global citizens. To complete the program, members must present a 25-page capstone thesis during their senior year.

Carolyn chose to explore tourism in the U.S. Virgin Islands and its impact on the St. Croix economy for her capstone thesis. Cane Bay Partners Co-founder Kirk Chewning was one of her mentors throughout the project.

“Carolyn is grateful to the assistance of Cane Bay Partners Co-Founder Kirk Chewning in advising her and providing introductions for interviews,” her family said in a written statement.

The Cane Bay Partners family extends special congratulations to Carolyn on her most recent achievement and wishes her the best as she moves on to Wofford College in the fall as a member of their equestrian team.
