Nearly 90% of St. Croix is still without power more than a month after Category 5 Hurricane Maria made landfall. Residents are anxious to rebuild and get back to a normal routine, but that’s hard without modern conveniences that we’ve all grown accustomed to – light among them.

That’s where LUCI solar lights come in. These awesome little lights have become quite popular when it comes to hurricane supplies and aid. They are inflatable, hand held or hanging lights that charge in the sunlight. It takes about 8 hours to get a full charge that can last up to 12 hours. They are even waterproof and can charge while it’s raining.

We were able to purchase several hundred of these lights through MPOWERD, which is selling them at a discounted rate of $7.50 each for relief efforts. In order to expand our reach and provide aid that is meeting the long-term needs of residents still without power, these lights were the perfect solution in every day renewable energy sources.

In order to continue to provide these lights to the St. Croix community, we’re asking for donations of $90 in order to purchase a pack of 12 lights.
